Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design and Drafting
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) is a must, while experience with software such as SketchUp, SolidWorks, or other 3D rendering tools will be considered an advantage. The candidate must ensure all technical drawings are in line with factory standards, material specifications, and client expectations. - Project Lifecycle Management
The selected candidate will manage the full lifecycle of furniture design projects—from the initial brief to concept creation, material selection, BOQ (Bill of Quantities) preparation, and waste control. They will also provide operational deliverables including technical drawings, presentations, and installation guidance. - Client Coordination and Feedback
The designer will regularly communicate with both clients and production teams to modify and finalize designs based on feedback. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit are essential to align client expectations with production capabilities. - Material and Product Selection
The role involves selecting and specifying high-quality furniture, fabrics, finishes, and materials for luxury residential and commercial spaces. Understanding market trends and client preferences is essential to curate elegant and functional furniture designs. - Quotation and Cost Estimation
Responding to client inquiries, generating accurate quotations, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction are important responsibilities. Knowledge in cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and project budgeting will ensure competitiveness and profitability. - Creative Development
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop original and innovative furniture concepts, keeping in mind client requirements, space functionality, and contemporary design trends. Strong visualization skills and the ability to interpret architectural layouts are key to success in this role.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Architecture, or Engineering, or equivalent work experience in a related field. - Industry Experience
A minimum of 4–5 years of experience in the Household and Interior Furniture industry within Kuwait or GCC countries is essential. A deep understanding of manufacturing processes and materials commonly used in interior furnishings is necessary. - Software Proficiency
Must be proficient in AutoCAD and preferably experienced in SketchUp, SolidWorks, or similar rendering software. - Design Expertise
Ability to create detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication plans. Experience in interpreting architectural blueprints and translating them into functional designs is required. - Client Interaction Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital to maintain productive relationships with clients, sales teams, and design collaborators. - Time and Quality Management
Ability to meet deadlines, multitask across several projects, and maintain high-quality standards in all design deliverables. Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are essential. - Understanding of Ergonomics and Functionality
Knowledge of ergonomic standards, materials, and manufacturing limitations is critical for creating practical and marketable furniture solutions.
